Aim: We will continue to understand the Scientific
Method by focusing on the correct way to hand in a lab report. Standard 4 Science Concepts I have a candle.... I want to see what happens if I light it. I take a match and light the wick... The wick has been changed by me, so it is an independent variable. As a result of my lighting the candle, the wax is dripping, the candle is hot, the candle is giving off light, the candle gives off heat (these are all dependent variables) They have changed as a result of my manipulating the independent variable. A dependent variable depends on something to make it happen When we hand in Lab Reports... Name the problem you are trying to solve What is your hypothesis? What materials are you using? What observations can you make? What procedure did you follow in your experiment (list as steps not in paragraphs) Data Table Graph - Take the data table and turn into a graph Draw a conclusion - Use If/Then format 704 HW workbook page 3- do not write in book!
