This extra credit project is only for students who have an average below 75. If you do not know your average, use engrade. This is an "All or None" project. Follow the directions exactly or you will not receive any credit.
Assignment-
Create a Power Point presentation about the 3 basic rock categories. If you can not use power point or don't have enough access to a computer, or don't know how to use power point, you can create a flip book, making each slide a new page.
Presentation-
1. Slide 1- Title the presentation “School of Rock”- Be sure to write your name, date and grade. Insert a picture of your favorite rock
2. Slide 2 - Insert a good picture about sedimentary rocks from an internet site. List 3 facts about sedimentary rocks.
3. Slide 3- Insert an interesting picture of an intrusive igneous rock from an internet site. List 3 facts about intrusive rocks.
4. Slide 4- I nsert an interesting picture of an extrusive igneous rock from an internet site. List 3 facts about extrusive rocks.
5. Slide 5 Insert a unique picture of a metamorphic rocks from an internet site. List 3 facts about the rocks.
6. Slide 6- Introduce the rock cycle (pictures help!!)
7 Slide 7- Discuss how igneous & metamorphic rocks change to sedimentary
8 Slide 8- Discuss how igneous & sedimentary change to metamorphic
9 Slide 9- Discuss how Sedimentary & Metamorphic rocks change to Igneous
The presentation must be limited to 9 slides (pages), no more, no less. Be sure to follow the instructions above. All slides must be done as mentioned above. If any is incomplete, you will receive NO credit! Be sure your project is colorful & creative. Use your own words in the writing. I will check the writing and if it is copied from the internet, you will receive NO Credit at all! The writing does not have to be in paragraph form, bullets are fine. Spelling counts! Be sure the pictures are appropriate and add to the presentation. You must use different pictures for each slide. Do not repeat pictures. If you are producing a flip book, you must still have pictures and NOT drawings. For power points do not overload the presentation with effects, although you may use a transition between slides, however NO SOUND EFFECTS. You must work on this project alone, NO partners.
The power point projects must be e-mailed to 95science@gmail.com before Monday, October 25 at 8:00 AM. If email is a problem, you should be able to use the submit homework page on my website. Flip books can be handed in during homeroom. PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR AN EXTENSION, the answer is "I am sorry but no." Report card grades will be submitted on Monday morning and those projects not handing in on time will not be counted.
